]]> The story of Poppy – Well worth a read if you have ever considered fostering or adopting a dog. https://apt.caterhamcomputing.uk/the-story-of-poppy-well-worth-a-read-if-you-have-ever-considered-fostering-or-adopting-a-dog/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-story-of-poppy-well-worth-a-read-if-you-have-ever-considered-fostering-or-adopting-a-dog Sat, 07 Nov 2015 13:06:44 +0000 http://animalprotectiontrust.org.uk/?p=523

As we are getting older we decided no more dogs, but after being dogless for 6 weeks, the house was not the same so via the APT web site we found Poppy a Jack Russell X in Rosemar Kennels . We decided to foster her at first because neither of us were that keen on small dogs. Poppy came into our home and hearts and after 4 weeks we adopted her.

We have also fostered older dogs for APT and Rosemar Rescue that have come into care after elderly owners have gone into care homes or passed away. It is so sad for an elderly dog to spend the end of its life in kennels . Again some have only been with us for a short time but it is so rewarding to have them.

Poppy has now moved to Peacehaven she is so happy in her new home

All vet bills are paid for by the Trust or Rescue medication and special diets are provided if needed, all you have to give is love and time.

He said there was a Jack Russell running around in the road on a sharp bend and thinking it would get run over, he managed to pick the dog up and discovered that it was very friendly, so put it in his van for safe keeping. He then knocked on some doors to see if he could find the owner. No-one knew who the dog belonged to and suggested that it might have come from a travellers’ camp up the road. He then rang his mother for advice and she asked me what he should do, so I said he should take it to the local vets for scanning to see if it had been chipped and then could be returned to the owners.

It was chipped!!!! The owners lived in Wembley and had reported the dog as stolen 6 months earlier. They were over the moon as they thought they would never see their dog Lola again.
